Cactus Constituency Consulting fully supports and applauds the commitment of President Trump to push government efficiency and the wise use of taxpayer dollars to the forefront of his policy agenda. While the sentiments behind the DOGE focus of the Trump Administration have been bandied about by politicians for decades, never before has a concerted effort, led by the most effective and capable Commander-in-Chief in modern history, been a core focus of a Presidential Administration. More importantly, these sentiments have never been advanced by a leader more likely to bring a significant portion of their objectives to fruition than the 47th President of the United States of America.

While proposed Chairman Musk's stated goal of $2T in annual savings is likely beyond ambitious, the concept and the focus of DOGE are absolutely necessary for the fiscal survival of the nation. With the National Debt now North of $36T and rapidly rising, debt service alone has become an apocalyptic monster chewing an ever-larger percentage of annual National expenditures. DOGE will face a number of realities as its leadership tries to create focus upon areas for cuts and savings. Key among these is that, even without Entitlements on the discussion table at first - and at some point, they simply must be - the lion's share of the discretionary budget items available for cuts are Authorized and Appropriated by Congress and are almost all tied to individual or collective Member, Committee, Leadership and Chairmen's priorities. Outside the elements eligible for Executive Action, there will be significant battles on the Hill to achieve anything approaching even half the stated $2T target in cuts. 

It is our opinion that President Trump, backed by a significant Electoral victory, a unique vision and powerful social media high ground is the best positioned Chief Executive in modern history to achieve as much of these vitally needed savings as possible.
